Hello followers!
It’s been a while since I have posted and will have more time with the Celtics being eliminated. I had my calendar booked through June to work all the way to the finals. Unfortunately, the Celtics who I thought were special..were not. They doubled on their philosophy and the margin for error was the difference. It also sucks losing to the Knicks who ended up firing their coach which makes it look even worse. The flip side is you can bear me every night at 7PM on 985 The Sports Hub.
Outside of radio I have been streaming with Cardvault every Tuesday on Fanatics live. They offer live sports card breaks and have the latest card releases. They can help with any needs such as grading cards and plenty of merchandise. It’s been cool to learn more about the hobby and see how the business works. I am also doing monthly card show with The Best Flippin Card Show. I set up a table at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Woburn and have cards offered up for sale. If you have any cards you want to consign with me and display at a show, feel free to reach out. I hope to do more events throughout New England. My next show will be at Polar Park in Worcester. It’s a great experience to not only see the park, but all the best vendors will be set up to purchase or trade. The date is Saturday July 26th. Tickets are now available.
Memorial Day weekend has passed and the weather has been all over the place. A few years ago I forced a July 4th in the rain and it was miserable. I used the holiday to recharge. You all deserve a long weekend on the Cape or by the lake up north. This time of year reminds me of cookouts and fried clams. I had my first clam of the summer in Ipswich with my buddy Hooch at Farnham’s. I hope you enjoyed time with friends & family instead of watching the Red Sox. They want to be competitive but they keep telling you about who’s coming up next with little focus on winning games. Until then, I cant take them seriously. I have marked June 13th as the date where they make some sort of change.
I had an incredible trip to Las Vegas for Wrestlemania. Now 5 nights may have been too many but the actual event was great. Allegiant stadium was the best venue I have ever been. The food was incredible, the flight was easy and was under 5 hours home. Overall a memorable experience. There are discussions of having it in Vegas next year. I was really looking forward to New Orleans.
If you have noticed there are less sports betting commercials. Many of the sports books have pulled out of advertising in Massachusetts and are focusing on markets that are rolling out legalization. With that, the OverUnder Podcast has come to an end after 7 years. This after losing the “Weekly Spread Show” I did on NBC Sports Boston the previous three years. Myself & Dan Lifshatz started the podcast and it really took off. We were awarded a weekly show that turned into 2 hours every week. I’m extremely proud of that. I feel as though we were trailblazers in legalizing sports betting in the commonwealth. Dan is a great betting analyst, he really looks at things through multiple layers while adding his opinion. He also produced all the shows. We really balanced each other out and tracked all our records. Overall we finished just under 60% which is impressive considering the volume of picks. I hope to continue to work with Dan as part of my show and on the weekends. Dan should be a weekly guest and have a weekly spot somewhere during football season. The space has turned into content creators making picks, I prefer someone who can reference data points and make picks with conviction even if you lose. My motto has always been Fade or Follow. I also hope to continue to have a spot in the betting space. 80 more days until football season but who’s counting?
The Bruins hired Marco Sturm as their new head coach. I think he is deserving a job in the NHL but the move doesn’t excite me at all. He was the last coach hired this offseason. I’m glad it’s not a retread but once again the Bruins stuck with someone they know although he has no ties to anyone on the roster. Besides Joe Mazzulla, all the Boston teams have former players as their coach.
Thank you to everyone who has shown support of the show and our work. Shoutout to Scaz for all his hard work behind the scenes as well. He keeps me in line and deals with all the things I don’t have to. He also takes on a much larger responsibility than others and does an incredible job. He started a new podcast with James Stewart called “Green Teamers” and hope to hear that again next season. This business is constantly changing and it was my goal to have my own show in Boston. I hope to continue to do that for years to come. Fingers crossed
Joe Murray, my favorite personality on the Hub!! I’m a 4 hybrid away from Kowloon, southern mass transplant, and will never understand why Beefs are so popular. Hot take Glens is the best beef per my buddy ! The grilled chicken kabob wrap is so fuckin money there. Hope to run into you one of these days!
